Take A lesson From Peter, We Are All Just As Frail..

We are absolutely frail and weak.. but there is a reason why God is obsessed with loving us, and nothing can separate us from His love.

Today I am reminded of how frail I am, its only when you get to the point of helplessness do you realise that we need real genuine help from God… and only He can give us that saviour. I am now convinced that a man cannot be used by God unless he first lays down his visions, dreams, ideas and desires in front of the cross. When we realise that we cannot achieve anything, that’s when Jesus says ‘you are now ready to let Me work through you’. (Gal 2:20, Rom 8:38-40, 2 Cor5:20-21, 2Cor 2:14-17, Phil 4:13, 2 Cor 12:9)

Frank recalls the story of Peter clearly below;

Recall Peter, one of the twelve disciples of Jesus. His former name was Simon Peter. This man earned a PhD in failure. Among all of the Lord’s apostles, Peter had shown himself to be faulty clay. He was a very marred vessel just like the rest of us. Despite this fact, when Jesus called Simon to be His disciple, He renamed him “Peter,” which means rock. More specifically, it means little stone.

Near the end of his life, Peter had a revelation that he and every other Christian were stones designed to be the building blocks for God’s house. He writes, “You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house” (1 Peter 2:5 nkjv). Peter understood God’s dream. He understood that God’s eternal quest was to have a house through which to express Himself.

Like the rest of us, Peter began his spiritual journey as a fragile piece of clay. Then God put him into the refining fire and turned up the pressure and heat. Peter was then transformed into a precious stone for the Lord’s house. At the end of the story line, Peter becomes one of the precious stones that make up the foundation for the new Jerusalem. (Rev 21:14,19)’ – [From Eternity To Here Pg 219]

I hope today you can get on your knees and pray this:

“Jesus without you I am nothing, but with you, in Your Name all things are possible. Lord I am weak, if I continue to do things in my own strength I cannot succeed, and I realise this. Today I ask that you transform me from the inside, you make me realise the power of victory that came when you defeated death. In you all things in heaven and on earth shout your Glory, may the Holy Spirit reveal these truths to me. Renew a right spirit in me and speak to me your living word and may I receive this peace that’s transcends all my understanding.”

Strength and Weakness

An Unforgettable Spiritual Experience – On Mission

I went on a missions trip with my friends church, it was a local Pentecostal church who were doing outreach and ministering to people of the surrounding areas of their sister church overseas.

In the lead up to this trip I was asked by the senior pastor to attend a private session with him to discuss my role while overseas, he wanted to ensure I was clear on what the trip entailed and that I knew what was expected of me. I had reasonably good experiences with this church but everything started to change after attending this ‘information session’.

The senior pastor got straight to the point. He said “you’re not allowed to pray unless directed by members of our leadership group; you cannot say anything negative against the crew or the church while on mission”. I suppose I agreed with the second part, but the first had some very direct implications for my walk with God and my freedom to pray as the spirit lead.. anyway I decided to go, presuming the senior pastor was just having a bad day and didn’t really clarify what he meant be ‘cannot pray’.

During an evening prayer worship service in one of the overseas churches, while sitting quietly (crossed arms, in my ‘I’m not allowed to pray’ style posture) I noticed several of the leadership group praying for a man that appeared to be sick and was standing up, swaying slightly from left to right.

Overtime this man became quite distressed and his eyes appeared to be rolling in his head, his whole body appeared to be flustering rapidly and was clearly unwell. Several of the group leaders commenced to place their hands on him in a typical ‘push hands into head’ Pentecostal posture. After a while they retreated praying for this man and left him in the crowd, clearly they were getting worried about his physical condition and wanted to now stay clear.

Many of the other younger onlookers from our mission group became distressed at what they were seeing and did not know what to do… it was then that I was reminded of the verse ‘greater is he that is in me, that he that is in the world’ and ‘whatever you do ask for it in my name, so my Father will be glorified’.

Without even a second thought, and so ignoring the ‘lingering rules been bestowed upon me by the senior pastor’, I stood up and walked over to minister to this man. If I remember correctly I said quietly something like this ‘In the name of Jesus, may the peace that surpasses all understanding give this man rest’… the man’s posture relaxed, he refocused his eyes on me and then walked out of the building.

I learnt several lessons that day that still stick with me to this day.

1. Never let someone get in the way of the Holy Spirits prompting and Gods purpose for your life and others.

2. Never stop praying; even when someone (not matter how worldly significant) stands in between Christ and you and says ‘you cannot pray’, he is not a man of God.

3. Rely on Gods living word to give you insight into each unique situation and circumstance, the wisdom on man fails to give any ‘process or practice to deal with every situation’

Pray for ‘Boldness’

“What you pray for reflects what you believe about God!”  – So if we pray and dont limit God, dont place Him or ourselves in a box, what could we pray for?

I ask everyone to be Bold in prayer, ask God to show up and reveal himself in your life and circumstances. How can you be fully devoted to God without asking God for Boldness?

I DARE you to pray this prayer with me…. and see how God can change your life. Repeat this out loud.

“Heavenly Father reveal yourself in my life. Reveal yourself to me in a miraculous way, its time i Stop being selfish and listen to You. Give me Boldness and Use me for Your Glory! Give me a prompting from your Holy Spirit to make major changes in my life. Lord, I am not capable of pursuing anything more unless I have your strength to do it, and not my own. Enable me as your servant to speak your words with Great Boldness and to share Jesus! I ask that my daily walk would be forever changed, my attitude, my heart, my desires. The time has come for me to get Serious about my belief in you and put my faith into action. Remind me to put you first, and  to pray always. God I offer up this next week to you and ask you would reveal yourself in a Bold Way. In Jesus Name. Amen

I would love to hear what bold situations God puts you in! Remember if you get stuck, just pray…
